Where this site's data comes from

Every figure on Milton For Rent comes from a named public dataset with a licence that permits reuse. This page lists all of them, what each one covers, how current it is — and the data this site deliberately refuses to publish.

What is peculiar about Milton's public data

Milton’s public data has one large hole and several small ones. The large one is rent: CMHC runs no survey for Milton alone, so the only published figures are the Toronto census metropolitan area — an area running from Oshawa to Burlington — and a survey zone pairing Milton with Halton Hills, in which several unit sizes are suppressed for small sample. Both are shown, both are labelled, and neither is presented as a Milton number.

The small holes are geographic. Three of the Town’s hamlets are rural enough that no census dissemination area has its centre inside them, so those pages carry no census profile rather than borrowing a neighbour’s. And because the Town is still building, the attendance boundaries that would be most useful to a renting family are also the ones most likely to be out of date — which is why this site publishes none.

School information and student demographics, 2024–2025

2024–2025 school year

Ontario Ministry of Education

Per-school records keyed by the Ministry's Board School Identification (BSID) number: name, board, type, level, grade range, address, enrolment, coordinates, EQAO achievement (% of students meeting the provincial standard) and the Ministry's published student-demographic indicators. Values are shown exactly as published; suppressed cells (NA, N/D, SP) are shown as 'not published'.

Licensed child care facilities in Ontario, July 2026

31 July 2026 snapshot

Ontario Ministry of Education

Licence-level records (site name, licensee, program type, program options, language, status, address). The file carries no coordinates; a facility is placed on a map only when its civic address matches a point in the municipality's own open address register.

EQAO provincial assessment results, 2024–2025

2024–2025

Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO)

The province-wide percentage of students meeting the standard, shown beside each school's own result as neutral reference context. English- and French-language systems are reported separately by EQAO and are compared like with like.

CMHC average rents for areas with a population of 10,000 and over (Table 34-10-0133-01)

October 2023, 2024 and 2025 surveys

Statistics Canada (data from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's Rental Market Survey)

Average monthly rent of occupied purpose-built rental units in row and apartment structures of three or more units, by bedroom type, for the census metropolitan area named in each table. Not asking rents, not condominium or secondary-suite rents, and never a school- or neighbourhood-level figure.

CMHC Rental Market Survey — Housing Market Information Portal

October 2024 and October 2025 surveys

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)

Average rent of occupied purpose-built private apartments in CMHC's survey zone. Milton has no census metropolitan area of its own; the smallest CMHC geography that contains it is Zone 29 (Milton/Halton Hills) of the Toronto CMA, and every Milton figure is labelled with that geography and CMHC's own quality indicator. Suppressed cells are shown as suppressed.

Census 2021 — shelter cost and tenure by census subdivision (Tables 98-10-0254-01 and 98-10-0255-01)

2021 Census (May 2021)

Statistics Canada

Counts of renter households, subsidized-housing renters and renters spending 30% or more of income on shelter, and the median/average monthly shelter cost of renter households, for the municipality (census subdivision). Shelter cost includes rent plus utilities and is not comparable to an advertised rent.

Town of Milton Open Data — Neighbourhoods, Hamlets, Parks, Transit stops, Trails, Town Facilities, Schools, Address points

Layers as published (updated daily by the Town; edit dates recorded per layer in the raw manifest)

Town of Milton

Neighbourhood names and boundaries are the Town's neighbourhood polygons; Campbellville, Moffat and Brookville use the Town's hamlet boundaries; Nassagaweya and Trafalgar are the Town's rural planning areas. Parks, transit stops, trails and Town facilities are counted inside the boundary.

What this site does not publish

These sites are operated by a brokerage, and the brokerage's own product holds real-estate listing data. None of it crosses into these pages — the data pipeline refuses it, and the build fails if any of it appears.

This site publishes public rental research: school, neighbourhood, census and rent-survey data from government sources. It does not display real-estate listings, prices or availability. Current rentals are shown on DistrictIQ.

    Method notes

    School eligibility
A school appears if it is in the Ministry's current directory and its special-condition code marks it a community school. Summer, night, continuing-education, care and treatment, correctional, remote and virtual programme sites are excluded and listed above.
    Neighbourhood boundaries
The Town of Milton's own published boundaries. Where the municipality splits an area into directional units, the page covers their union and says so. A name with no published boundary gets no page.
    Counting inside a boundary
Schools, licensed child care, parks, transit stops and public facilities are counted by point-in-polygon against the municipal boundary — not by a radius around a centre point.
    Census figures
Dissemination areas whose centre falls inside the boundary. Counts are summed; rates and medians are population-weighted. Suppressed StatCan values stay unpublished.
    Child care locations
The provincial register has no coordinates. Facilities are placed by matching their civic address to the Town of Milton's open address register — never a commercial geocoder. A facility that does not match is still listed, without a location.
    Rent figures
CMHC Rental Market Survey values, at the smallest geography CMHC publishes for this city. Never attributed to a neighbourhood or a school, because no public source measures rent at that scale.
    Dates
"Last updated" reflects when the underlying DATA changed or was retrieved — never when the site was built or deployed.
